How much does Hyrox cost? Entry, travel and the gear you don't need

How much does Hyrox cost? Real ticket prices from an official 26/27 event page, what the entry includes, the optional extras, and the gear you can skip.

by exrsz

How much does Hyrox cost? The entry ticket is the one number you can't avoid, and it depends on the event, the country and how many people you race with. For one real example: the official ticket page for HYROX Birmingham, season 26/27, lists a singles entry at £125.00 including VAT, plus a service fee. Everything else, from travel to race photos, is either optional or depends on where you live.

Below: what a Hyrox race costs to enter by division, what the ticket actually gets you, the add-ons that quietly raise the total, and the gear you don't need to buy. The money is the easy part. The twelve weeks of training are the real cost, and spending them well is the job of an app that trains your weak stations.

How much does a Hyrox race cost to enter?

There's no single global price list. Each event has its own ticket page, its own currency and its own prices, so the only number that matters is the one on your event's page. Here is one event, as a worked example.

These are the athlete prices on the official HYROX Birmingham 26/27 ticket page (October 27 to November 1, 2026, at the NEC), in British pounds, checked on October 2, 2026:

TicketPrice listedNotes from the ticket page
Singles (Open, men or women)£125Including VAT, plus service fee
Singles Pro (men or women)£125Same price as Open at this event
Doubles (men, women or mixed)£120 per person"Price per person plus service fee", 2 tickets per team
Relay (men, women or mixed)£73 per person"Price per person plus service fee", 4 tickets per team
Spectator (ages 12+)£15Under-12s go free but still need a ticket

So a Doubles team pays £240 between them before fees, and a Relay team pays £292 between four. Prices at other events, in other countries and in other currencies will be different, and this table is a snapshot. Check your own event before you budget.

One thing the ticket price doesn't tell you is whether you're ready to get value from it. Paying for a race you then survive by walking half the runs is the expensive option. If the date is booked, a 12-week Hyrox build is the cheapest way to make the entry fee count.

What you're paying for

If you're new to the sport, the Hyrox race format is simple: eight 1 km runs, each followed by one workout station, in the same order at every event. The ticket buys you that race on a full course, with judges, timing and loaded sleds you'd struggle to find in most gyms.

What does the Hyrox entry fee include?

The Birmingham event page lists the race package. The headline items:

  • The Hyrox finisher's patch
  • Your result on the leaderboard as you race
  • An individual finish time with split timings for each workout
  • Age group award ceremonies in each division
  • World Championship qualification slots for certain age groups
  • Aid stations before, during and after the race
  • The option to buy professional photos

The split timings are the most useful thing on that list. They show exactly which station cost you time and how your runs held up. They also expose the time you lose between things, which is where knowing what the Roxzone is in a Hyrox race pays off: it's the transition area between the run course and the stations, and your clock runs the whole time you're in it.

The optional extras that raise the total

The entry is the base price. These are the add-ons, all optional, that turn it into a bigger number.

Flex add-ons (refunds and name changes)

The Birmingham event page describes two add-ons you can buy with a Singles, Doubles or Relay ticket:

  • Flex Lite: one name change, up to the day before your race.
  • Flex: a name change, plus a 100% refund up to 31 days before your race day and a 50% refund up to 7 days before.

The page also says refunds exclude the Flex add-on itself and the service fee, that transfers to other events and division changes aren't offered, and that Flex can't be added after you've bought the ticket. Without it, buy the ticket you actually want, because you can't switch later.

Race photos

The official photo partner, Sportograf, captures athletes during the race. You can pre-purchase a photo package with your ticket or buy photos afterward, according to the event page. Nice to have. Not required to finish.

Charity entries

Some events offer charity tickets that come with a fundraising commitment. At Birmingham, the event page asks charity entrants for Macmillan Cancer Support to pledge £400 for a solo entry or £800 for a double entry. That money goes to the charity, not to Hyrox, but it's still a commitment you need to plan for.

Spectators

If someone is coming to watch, budget for their ticket too. At Birmingham that's £15 per spectator aged 12 and over.

Travel and accommodation

This is the line item that varies most, and the one nobody can price for you. A race in your own city costs a train fare. A race in another country costs flights, hotels and a day off work. Two things help:

  • Pick a nearby event for your first race. You'll learn more from racing than from traveling.
  • Check your start time before booking a hotel. Start waves run across the day and across several days at big events, and the event page notes that individual start times are published only about three days before the race, so plan around the provisional schedule.

How much does it cost to do Hyrox beyond the ticket?

The race is one day. Getting ready for it is months.

Training access. You need somewhere to run and somewhere to lift. A regular gym covers most of it. You don't need a Hyrox-affiliated gym, although one with a sled, a SkiErg and a rower makes station practice easier. If your current gym has none of those, the stations can be substituted while you build strength and running.

Coaching. You can pay a personal coach $400 a month to write you a plan. You can also follow a well-built plan yourself. The race is the same either way, and the stations don't know who wrote your program.

CrossFit memberships. Plenty of people come to Hyrox from a box, and the overlap is real: wall balls, rowing, burpees, lifting. The differences are bigger than the overlap, though. The short version of how Hyrox is different from CrossFit, explained: one race that never changes, with 8 km of running in it.

The gear you don't need

The 26/27 singles rulebook is short on required kit. You must wear closed-toe shoes at all times, except at the wall balls, where you're allowed to take them off. Beyond that, you need clothes you can move in.

The rulebook lists the only extras you're allowed to use: knee sleeves, gloves (not grips), a weightlifting belt, wristbands, hydration packs, and prescribed asthma inhalers or similar. Anything not on the list is prohibited by default. Headphones and phones are on the forbidden list.

What that means for your wallet:

  • Grips: not allowed. Don't buy them for race day.
  • Headphones: not allowed. Your playlist stays home.
  • A belt, sleeves or gloves: allowed, optional, and only worth it if you already train with them. Whatever you start with, you have to carry to the finish; the rulebook says you can't hand items to anyone else during the race.
  • Shoes: the pair you train in. One pair has to handle eight runs, sleds and lunges, so comfort beats novelty.
  • Chalk: don't bring it. Only event-supplied chalk is permitted, at the stations where it's provided.

Which division is the best value?

Value isn't just price per person. At Birmingham, Doubles was slightly cheaper per person than Singles, and Relay was much cheaper, but Relay racers each do two runs and two stations, a quarter of the race.

How the Hyrox divisions compare on effort matters more than how they compare on price:

  • Singles: the full race. Most expensive per person, most race per pound.
  • Doubles: both partners run every kilometer together and split the station work. Cheaper per person, and far more forgiving on the stations.
  • Relay: each person does a quarter of the race. The cheapest entry and the gentlest introduction.

If your goal is a time, your first race is also your baseline. Whatever counts as a good Hyrox time depends on your division, sex and age group, and the first result is the number you'll measure everything else against.

Who can enter

The singles rulebook says racers must be at least 16 on race day. That's how old you have to be to do Hyrox, explained in one line. The Birmingham event page also mentions a separate HYROX Youngstars race for ages 8 to 15.

Adaptive athletes race in their own divisions under the official adaptive rulebook, and the Birmingham ticket page includes Adaptive singles tickets. Having Hyrox Adaptive divisions explained properly takes more than a paragraph, so the short version is: they're official, they have their own standards, and you enter them like any other division.
